I do the same thing. The song I have been playing a lot lately
is The Highway Patrolman by Bruce Springsteen from his 1982 Nebraska album. It's a bittersweet story song.
I also really like Book of Dreams from his Lucky Town album, 1992.
These are more acoustic style story songs; Springsteen at his raw best.

Corrine bailey rae is cool. KT Tunstall. Tori Amos if you're young enough to not know her....
why is it that i know everything until I try to think about it...?
I don't do the singer song thing though - sorry......
Way too much trouble....
PS - ignore the jack johnson guy. you'll slip into a coma and wonder why God is punishing you.
do however try Dave matthews band, john Mayer, Rufus Wainright, David Gray, Ben HArper's gospel stuff aaaaaaaandd..... (making mental pic of my cd collection which is vast and somehow very blurry) Sting :) hehe.....

Try some Jack Johnson, he has an album called in between dreams. If you don't like that then maybe some swing music or jazz music

Well, what kind of music do you listen to right now? If you don't, you should listen to Metallica, Iron Maiden, AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, etc. They have so many great songs to choose from, you'll never get bored.
