Hopefully they have learned:
"The fights I fought... cost a lot - the fight for the assault-weapons ban cost 20 members their seats in Congress. The NRA is the reason the Republicans control the House." - President Bill Clinton, Cleveland Plain-Dealer, January 14, 1995
Very few of the newly elected Democrats support gun control. The old guard does and control the committee assignments. But the prospects for anything beyond studies is lower than you might think.
Now, 2008 is a different game...

Well, if they do try to change the laws, and since they are the ones without guns..... what do they have to back up whatever they put on a piece of paper?
Americans bought guns after 9-11. The fear of terrorism will grow when the next terrorist action takes place on our soil.... and it will now that the dems have some control of our government. That's why the Muslim terrorists were celebrating the election results and partying over it! They know what it means.
I do not think Americans will stand for being told, in the present world environment, that they do not have a right to arms to defend themselves. It would be a major political mistake if they push for gun control now.

first of all, the Democrats did not have a filibuster information majority. they purely had fifty seven senators, and 2 independents that caucused with the Democrats. they could favor 60 senators with the intention to give up a filibuster, and that is not a on condition that all the Democrats and the independents might want to conform to any regulations. Secondly it replaced into not a concern for the admin, and Obama by no potential pushed for far gun administration. it would want to also be an difficulty that would want to detract from different priorities of the admin, which incorporates the well-being Care bill. ultimately the authentic reason neither area is pushing for helpful gun administration is through funds from the gun foyer and the phobia of the NRA mobilizing adverse to them contained in the subsequent election. The NRA are extremely small, yet they have an effect it really is recommendations-blowing. they have succeeded pleased with their attitude of attempting to oust any representative that dare to oppose them.

My guess is they will make their best attempts to appear moderate and not spot light their socialist agenda. They will do their best to retain the power that they have won. Hopefully they realize that most people mearly voted against Bush and NOT for the Democratis agenda. Ive no doubt that they will fail no matter what and Republicans will gain power back at the next senate race.

I think it is very hard to pass any law that limits anything people think as a freedom. Bills have so many compromises and loopholes attached to them that they stall.
