For once, Bush gives democrats the credit they deserve.
In a recent interview he said that after talking with the new Congress to convene in January, Bush said democrats are equally patriotic as republicans.
Democrats, as well as republicans, have loved this great nation their entire lives because of the freedom and admirable American ideals.
Democrats never question the republicans' support of the US.
Republicans need to understand that the fact is, both parties are equally patriotic but simply have different ideas about how to run the nation.

Well that's fine. If you don't believe the genuinely good intentions of the democrats, you don't have to. You can remain ignorant and close-minded in your little cacoon, completely devoid of reality. That's why you are conservative, anyway.

You have just opened up a can of worms & will certainly (probably) get alot of tongue-lashing for it. Bush has no choice but to try & work with Congress now. Even if the finish of his presidential career will be that of a lame duck.

You're right, of course. Both parties are equally patriotic. But I do not believe he IS giving the Democrats the credit they deserve. Watch him try to pass every "partisan law" he can while his Republican Congress still hold the reins of Congress. He wants to continue the NSA spying, permanent tax cuts & to push through John Bolton's nomination for UN Ambassador, for which his own base has blocked. It all ends in January.

He will most assuredly go down in history as the worst president of all time now that he is on "lame duck status". What is his greatest accomplishment? Unlimited presidential power? He wanted his legacacy to be that of an idealogist. He truely believes God chose him to free those people from tyranny. First of all, the people have to want freedom and then they have to be willing to fight for it, no matter what the cost is. Wasn't it Patrick Henry who said "Give me liberty or give me death"?

I think Bush's accomplishments now will depend on what the Democrats accomplish in his final term. Period.

I hope they agree, and decide to look ahead. The tone has certainly changed now that the power must be shared (as, of course, it was meant to be by the framers of the Constitution). This is the way the president needs to talk- and the American people will be ever watchful and hopeful for intelligent solutions to the big issues. If Democrats are willing to put this administration's mistakes behind them in order to forge ahead to new solutions, Republicans should be willing to do the same.

Some people are so small minded, they actually believe that if you don't vote, think, or bleed like a repub, you are an enemy of this country. However, it's people like that who are the real enemy. They can see no further than what their repub leaders tell them to. Therefore, the country remains in a mess, but it is ok to them, because a repub is running it. In that, lies the real danger. The inability to think for oneself. Bush's statement simply put, means that he is now going to have to be very careful. It is no longer a dictatorship, there are people who will actually make him accountable for everything he does.
