I'm hitting it with a metal hammer as hard as I can in the same spot, over and over but it won't break or even crack! It's like super glass!

Use a chisel. The force from the hammer is spread over a large area where a chisel has a much smaller surface area. As a result you get a greater concentration of force. With the chisel you also can place it on the exact same spot every time where with a hammer that's almost impossible to do.

Be sure to wear eye protection!!!

Get a masonry drill bit and a drill and drill holes around the glass block where the mortar is on both sides of the glass. If you drill enough holes you can then chisel out the mortar and remove the glass block

Chisel good. Add centerpunch, pliers to hold, and glove.
What about removing the mortar/grout holding it? It's softer and you might be able to save the block. Those things cost $2-5.
