Dragon says an hour, but Yahoo says a hour, which makes Dragon chuckle so then sometimes she says a hour just to be silly.

I think the proper way to say it would be an hour because it sounds like a vowel in hour, however the proper way to write it would be a hour. I usually say and write it an hour though.

Although ideally I would like to wait until this question winds down and the answer will be revealed by Yahoo by saying either 'an hour left to answer' or 'a hour left to answer', I have decided not to wait and I will put my vote with the former.

It would be "an hour" since the word does start with a consonant, but the "h" is silent - so the first sound is a vowel sound, thus the use of "an" is required.
