my aunt holly just had a BEAUTIFUL baby boy the other day on tuesday. He is just GORGEOUS. I really think he's attatched to me. How do I tell who he likes the most. My mom was really jealous of me. [his name is hunter by the way, Hunter TeJay Gerlach] and I just can't give him up when I hold him. Is that being selfish?? or is it ok that im atatched to the new baby?? and how do I tell who he likes the most?

First of all, he's a newborn baby. He doesn't like anyone more than another person. A few years from now he wont' even remember this time in his life. You probably have a maternal instinct and I think babies can sense that. It would really be a waste of time to try to figure out who he likes more, and an even bigger waste of time to be jealous over it. It's okay that you're attached to him. Depending on your age, it may just mean you're ready for one too! But don't do it too young!

Different babies do get attached to particular people, who knows why? Each of my children as babies preferred particular people. My daughter would lay in my husbands and my sisters arms for hours and drop off to sleep whereas she was uneasy when held by my Mum. My son was always happiest in my Mum's arms and even now sits so close as to almost be on her knees. So I think yes the baby does like you and feels comfortable and you and everyone around you should make the most of it and enjoy the moments, because they are not tiny babies for very long.

I don't think a newborn baby has preferences of who he likes most, although sometimes it seems like that. Sometimes babies are born and I go to the hospital to visit and end up holding the baby longer than anyone just because they hand it to me and they're instantly happy, but that doesn't mean I go around thinking the baby likes me better. It's not a contest, it's a baby who just likes being held.

Actually, I think he likes his mother the most as he has bonded with her. Other than that, he's only a few days old so really has no preference unless you're the one with the milk!

A newborn baby doesn't have preferences. In fact, if he can't see you, you don't exist to him. Why don't you all just enjoy the baby instead of worrying about who he likes best.

I take it that you are a child. Yes, newborns love people, they love looking at their faces because they are round. I don't think he is more attached to you than his mother, that's just ridiculous!
