I have anxiety, and do not want to take tranquilizers for it, but I do want the same exact feeling of calm that tranquilizers give. Is there anything I can take that will do that when I take it?

Try Valerian... You can get it at health food stores. I'm not sure, but maybe you can also find it at Walmart, Walgreen's etc.
It suppose to be similar to Valium without giving you that lethargic feeling.
Good Luck!

Why aren't you taking antianxietants if you have anxiety?

Tranquilizers are a totally different thing. Talk to your doctor about antianxietants.

Kava (herb) has an very similar effect to taking tranquilizers. Kava is used for the treatment of anxiety, it has a very calming effect, and also promotes sleep.

Percogesic - you can get it over the counter at Walmart, etc... I think the ingrediants are the same as in a 'muscle relaxer'. Personally, I like Zanax the best for anxiety but as you know a script is needed;)

I do know that Magnesium is a perfectly natural muscle relaxant.

You could try that.
