I think that voting should be manditory for national elections and there should be a tax implemented if people do not go out and vote. This in turn would get people to go out to the polls and vote or send in absentee ballots.
Obviously there would have to be a "vote for none" catagory for those people who do not like any candidate running.
This is how Australia's voting system works and it is really efficient.
The only ones that would probably have a problem with this are the republicans because they don't want all the lower income people voting.

No there should be a Fair Tax, HR 25. If the Republicans used this in their platform, they could have won Tuesday!

No. But I think there could be some criminal laws against blatant voter suppression beyond what already exists now or MUCH more serious enforcement of existing law. I think there should be accountability if somebody is called with the threat of arrest for voting or saying that one need not vote because it had already been done automatically. No candidate should be allowed the benefit of election even IF someone in his/her organization is the guilty party in something like the crimes above. Revote with a clean election if necessary! This is what happened to narrow the margin of Webb victory in VA. And the electronic cheat machines should be crushed into a fine powder. Down with Dictator Dumbya!!!

That is ridiculous and is against everything that America stands for. If people don't care who gets elected then why should they have to waste time voting? That just encourages uneducated votes.
Your second comment does not make sense. Most people who vote straight party do it BECAUSE they agree with that party's values and ideals.

It's your freedom to vote or not vote. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: uninformed voters should be kept as far away from the polling booth as possible.

That would be the only way I would vote is if there was a "Vote for No One" on the ballot...all politicians are crooks or liars.
