The death of "Dimebag" Darrell drom Damageplan, formerly Pantera. It appears as tho there aren't a lot of heavy metal fans here, but this was truly a sad and shocking even. He was shot onstage while doing what he loved to do most in this world, shredding on his guitar. Let's not forget that his brother was the drummer and watched the whole thing. I still get teary eyed whenever I hear any Pantera or Damageplan music. Dimebag was honeslty a good person and so many people miss him so much.
For you pop fans, Nickelbacks latest album has a song on it all about it caled "Side of a Bullet". Dimebag actually plays guitar on the song, but the lyrics were re-written for him.
The second shocking for me would be Kurt Cobain, I was 13 at the time, it was sad, but honestly no where near as shocking as Dimebag.

Mines gotta be Steve Irwin. He was such a cool guy. I was driving home from a camping trip labor day and heard it on the radio. It was definitely a big shock!!
I couldn't believe it. I thought he would have died from a crocodile or some poisonous reptile, I guess not.
My little kids loved him to death and they all cried when they heard it on the news.
His poor kids and wife, Bindi and Steve were just starting to have a show together.
Gosh, I can't even imagine the pain his family has to go through!
Now some people are terrified of stingrays. I guess another guy got killed because the stingray jumped into his boat!!!
What a sad, sad, story.
I still can't believe he is gone!!!!!!

Quite a few.
John Lennon in 1980 is the first one. I was 7 & barely understood what the big deal was until I was older.
River Phoenix, Ray Charles, Princess Diana, Chris Farley, John Ritter, Jim Henson, Johnny & June Carter Cash, Selena, Former President Ronald Regan. I cried so hard when Princess Diana & Ronald Regan died & when their funerals were on national television.

John Lennon - 1980. I was only 2 at the time, but having grown up and become a fan of both his solo and Beatles stuff, it's the one that saddens me the most.

John Lennon without a doubt. He was only 40 years old and adored his 5 year old son. So ironic that the man who sang, Give Peace a Chance" was shot to death in the back in cold blood.

A lot of them have shocked me like Elvis, John Lennon and Bobby Kennedy which I saw Live on TV but a most recent one
is the car accident that took Betty White's life. That was so sad
and she was such a fantastic witty woman.

John Lennon. He was just getting back into producing great music - I believe he was the real genius behind the Beatles. The circumstances of his death were so pointless too. I opened all my windows and played 'Imagine' at full volume through my PA the morning I heard the news.

Freddie Prinze Sr. I was only 16 at the time, and he had everything going for him. Was a star on Chico and the Man, had just cut a comedy album that was selling like hotcakes, and, at the young age of 22, had a lot to live for. His suicide was a shock that took both myself and many in my high school who wanted to be like him months to get over.
