Maybe if you gave us some more info on your likes / dislikes etc it could help. For instance if you're just going for a weekend of passion, then does it really matter where you go? If you want some arts try amsterdam, loads of arty stuff as well as fun. Music, try berlin or krakow, both have some ace music venues as well as arts. Krakow is one of the most beautiful cities I've ever visited. Friendly people, loads of great music venues, places to visit - historic & religious, great value and if you're up to it zakpanie is not far away in the tatra mountains for a bit of ski or snowboarding.

I don't know about this time of the year particularly, but this site might give you ideas about where to visit in Spain:
http://www.spain.info/
Beware that we've had some interesting heavy rains and some places have received as much as 135 litres per square metre in a single day so be sure to check the weather.
As a personal recomendation, do visit the Alhambra in Granada. Tickets are available from www.alhambratickets.com (yes, really.) The best times are spring and autumn when the gardens are in flower and the packs of tourists haven't clogged every beautiful avenue and courtyard. Wear comfortable shoes, sunscreen and bring spare batteries and film or they'll nail you in the shops.
Summers in Granada are hot, hot, hot and winters are cold and sometimes snowy (courtesy of global warming) and the fact that 30 kms away we have the Sierra Nevada ski resort (http://www.sierranevada.es/ english site is down right now) does mean that you can do many things while you visit.
Also try to fit in Cordoba and Sevilla, the other jewels of AndalucÃa. You will be happily amazed.

My vote goes to Amsterdam. Going again in December. 3rd time this year. Something for everyone. Recommend the Rookies Hotel (formerly Hotel Uptown). Only rated 2 stars but rooms decent and cleaned everyday, friendly staff and it's sandwhiched between a coffee shop and a magic mushroom shop. Check out their website www.rookies.nl

Paris is always nice to visit. Plenty of things to see and do, and lots of bars/shops to go in to warm up if it's a bit chilly.
Prague is also a good bet, and not as cold as it will be in a few months time.

This depends on what type of couple you are:
A couple for sight seeing
A couple for clubbing
A couple for relaxing
etc
If I were you I would go to a travel agent tell them what you want from your visit i.e the above and they will recommend a place for you.
Hope this helps!

Got to be Prague . its easily accessible from anywhere in the UK. There are loads of cheap flights there daily , the cost of living is cheap , the beer is only 60p a pint !!. The architecture is beautifull and there is plenty to do and see .

Venice, it's so romantic at any time of the year and now there are lesser tourists too.
