put a 1/2 cup of white vinegar in with your wash (hot water) and wash them normal no fabric softener and make sure you put them in the dryer as soon as they are done in the washer. Guarantee it will work. I do it all the time with my towels.

Take those towels and throw them in the washer and let them soak there for a little while. Add your detergent and put some white vinegar in with the towels and the mildew should go away. Then throughly wash them after soaking them.

I add baking soda in with all my towels..at least a cup..also a little lemon juice could help..it neutralizes most odors..wash in the hottest water possible..also Purex makes a detergent with a renuzit additive that really does a good job of taking care of odors..rinse well.
Dry very well with dryer sheets with febreeze..

Try this: Fill the washer halfway with towels, but use enough water and detergent for a large load. Add Oxyclean.

Add baking soda to water and soak for a couple of hours. The water can be re-used for more items.
