It was the 90s and the movie is "Species". There's a scene in the movie where blond hottie Natasha Henstridge (playing a mute alien in human form) mated with a guy in his heated swimming pool then killed him.

It might have been Marlee Matlin, in "Children of a Lesser God", also starring William Hurt, in 1986, although I do not recall a murder in that movie. Marlee Matlin is herself deaf. She won an Academy Award for Best Actress for that role, the youngest actress to have won one in that category. She was 20 at the time.

i saw that movie on an airplane and when the stewardess came by to ask if i wanted head phone, i said, why its a movie about deaf people, i got into trouble cause my mom was sitting behind me
