Yeah most slaves when they were freed by their masters were allowed to use their master’s surname like Washington or Franklin (both of whom freed their slaves at their deathbed). And no, Washington didn’t slept with any of his black slaves. There’s no DNA proof of that. The descendants of George Washington’s slaves have an annual picnic in I think Mt. Vernon. That was Jefferson. I’ve seen the direct descendants of Thomas Jefferson and his mulatto slave mistress Sally Hemmings on TV. Their modern descendants don’t look mulattos like most African Americans, Brazilians, and Dominicans. Jefferson and Sally Hemming’s descendants look full European white some with blonde hair and blue eyes. They don’t have African features. They used DNA tests to research this. Many white Americans in the East Coast and the Southern States whose families been here since British colonial times might have distant Native American Indian ancestry or African ancestry. Native American Indians during British colonial times use to kidnap and intermarry British colonists.

I've had the same enquiry myself. I was told from a friend, albeit unverified, that the white Washingtons were so embarrassed by our former president's trysts, that they abandoned the name. In fact, they created a variation of the name Washington, like Washburn. Honestly, I don't know why. I've checked military records, sport stats and other references and have not found one white Washington, who was not married into the name or born from a black person. Hope this helps.

Because not every Washington is decended from THE Washington. Many people choose to adopt the name of our country's "Founder"
Immigrants coming into the country already had a last name. Slaves who had been recently freed had only a first name, many therefore choose Washington to be their last name.

Most black people in this country are descendants of slaves. Slaves would usually be the last name of their masters, which most kept even after slavery was officially ended in this country. That's a major reason that African-Americans typically have fairly common English last names; like Jackson, Thomas, Walker, Martin.

the main significant political events in the U.S. are truthfully nearer to a minimum of one yet another than a lot of people think of. the issue is greater that the people is amazingly divided. i don't advise the Republican or Democrat electorate by ability of that. There are regularly occurring people vote casting for the two between the events and a brilliant form of electorate who could be seen as a kind of excellent-wing Christian Taliban. whilst this is election time, people comprehend in what form of a divided united states of america they are residing in and that they don't proportion any values with the different area.
