You cannot delete a SINGLE restore point. You can only delete all but the most recent one.

You have to use the Disk Cleanup tool: launch it from Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools. Switch to the More Options tab and click Clean Up... under System Restore to do so.

You will gain hard drive space, but future Restore Points will still occupy that space later.

You can, but there is really not need to. Your computer allotes a certain amount of space for restore points. When that limit is reached, it deletes the old ones for you to make room for one ones. You will gain no additional hard drive space or anything by deleting them, so there is really no point in doing it.

you can turn system restore completely off and use the manual backup feature of XP ...start / allprograms / accessories / systemtools / backup

...to turn off system restore go to control panel/perfmaint/system/restore

...to use the backup wizard correctly "choose" what to backup ... under "my computer" in the wizard, the "system state" is the most important thing to chek ... and add any other folders/files u want to it and save it to somplace u can find ... then copy it to a dvd for safekeeping is the best thing to do ..
.... just a thought ....
