How would an ameteur do stop-motion animation?

I found this video at YouTube and I was just wondering how he could have done it. The video is at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3kXF_aO11FY it is pretty poor quality, but it still makes me laugh for some reason.

single frame shooting...24 frames = 1 sec of animation
what you do is take a single frame shot move your model a tiny bit then shoot the next. do that 1440 more time for one minute and and there you have your stop motion film
