I really wouldn't care. I don't celebrate Christmas but if the person who celebrates it is saying Merry Christmas to me, I accept the well wishes with open arms! I know they are not trying to offend me but are just in the spirit of Christmas and why not?! It is a big day for Christians! I say Merry Christmas to people all the time!

While the social engineers have done a good job of ridding the Christmas holiday of any of it's religious meaning, it is still recognized as a stat holiday in most countries and I don't hear any of the non-Christians or atheists bitching about the getting the day off. I figure saying "Merry Christmas" isn't such a bad thing for anyone to say since many people benefit from this holiday. While I don't get upset at 'happy holidays' I'm not particularly impressed with terms like 'holiday' party or 'holiday' tree, those statements are just silly.

If I know the person is a Christian, I say Merry Christmas. If I do not, I say Happy Holidays.
No, I do not get offended, people can say Merry Christmas or Happy holidays to me, it does not matter. Most people intend to mean Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and/or Happy Thanksgiving when the say Happy Holidays. And they say it that way if they think that they will not see you again during the holidays. Their intent is not usually political correctness, just a friendly wish for you.
Someone posted an article about Walmart, this year advertisements will make reference to Christmas, when it is a Christmas item being advertized.

I've never been offended by someone wishing me a Merry Xmas, or a Happy Holiday, or Happy Hannukah or anything else. Good wishes are good wishes.

What does offend me is when I wish someone a "Happy Holidays" and they get uptight and say "It's Merry Xmas, why don't you say xmas" or something similar.

For all the media coverage of the supposed politically correct attempts to stifle people from saying Merry Xmas, I've never witnessed a single person get mad because someone wished them a Merry Xmas, whereas I HAVE seen, many times, Christians get uptight and confrontational because someone wished them a Happy Holidays.

I don't get offended by either one and I don't give it another thought. I have used Merry Christmas my whole life and in some fewer instances it has been Happy Holidays greetings; but it had nothing to do with political correctness, just the circumstances of the greeting. Political correctness is not part of my game.

SillyRabbit deserves the answer on this question. That's a very mature way to look at it.

Personally, I get offended when people say "Happy Holidays" because it's unnesessary. No one celebrates the "holidays" at one time. It's just a way to delete the word "Christmas". It's easier to be specific about the holiday you are referring to, i.e. "Happy Halloween", "Happy Thanksgiving", "Merry Christmas".

Christmas has always been my favorite holiday and I celebrate it for the "right" reasons and follow traditions as well. But if a perfect stranger said to me "Happy Hannukah" I would smile and say thank you.

No one really gets offended that way, it's just liberals like the ACLU trying to remove anything religious from the public square.

The past two years that I worked in a retail store they told us to say Happy Holidays instead of Merry Christmas when answering the phone or checking someone out. I always said Merry Christmas. No one can make me go against what I believe. Sometimes I think God tests us to see if we will deny him.

I wouldn't. And if someone gets offended when I say Merry Christmas, then that's just to bad.

Not me! And in my experiences, nobody has ever gotten offended when I've said Merry Christmas. But I'm sure it does happen.

Don't let it spoil your holiday spirit!

I think its crazy that anyone would be offended. Christmas is the holiday so why not say it? Asking me not to is taking away my right. Why should I go out of my way to say happy holidays just to be respectful to someone else when expecting my to say happy holiday is being disrespectful to me. saying Merry Christmas to someone who doesnt celebrate it isnt forcing my beliefs on them...its saying that Christmas is a commonly celebrated holiday. I can honestly count on one hand the number of people I know and am friends with that dont celebrate christmas. and if someone were to say happy Hanuka to me I wouldnt get offended...I'd just assume they celebrate Hanuka and wish them one as well. people just need to lighten up a bit...thats all.
