Not if the student is just playing lazy and looking for someone to give them the answers. That's not help.....that's wanting someone to do the work for them.
If a student needs opinions or ideas, then it's not a bad place to get a little thought material. It's also helpful if you have a math problem you have tried, but can't find the mistake.
As with anything else. It's a great idea that gets abused by those looking for the easy way out of doing the work themselves.

For some students, yes. Unfortunately, many students just want someone to do their work for them and unhappily, people jump in and do just that so the student doesn't learn how to do anything, just gets a number to plug into a blank on their homework assignment.
When people explain HOW to do something, but let the student do it for themselves, then, yes, it is a helpful exercise.
I'm curious about how teachers react to this, when students turn in perfect homework papers (because they are just copying answers without understanding the process) then flunk the same material when it is presented in an exam.

Face-to-face tution is always better. There is no doubt about it.But if the student, for any reason whatsever,is unable to get face-to-face tution, why not opt for on-line-tution? It certainly helps the student .

It can be good, but I think sitting together and being able to go over it together and talk about the subject is better for most people.
