I agree, we are fighting them at the moment. We laid poision where they were running, they were taking it. Then we added a mouse trap at each end and a glue trap. No mice caught but posion still taken. Next night posion taken and 1 mouse caught, since then none!!! I have been told that chocolate and peanut butter in the trap is irresistable to them but I havnt tried it yet...I am getting them tomorrow!!! Still, they are not too clever to take the posion and that will get them, but the trouble with that is they die and the bodies smell. I would rather catch them, or the majority of them.
I have got some sonic mouse deterents but they can take up to 2 weeks to clear them out and you need one in every room. I am buying them gradually as money is tight.

Get a cat. Evolution has made this one of the most effective weapons against individual mice, and the mere presence can act as a deterrent to the more clever mice. The less clever ones become cat-snacks.

The best way if you are still using traps is to put peanut butter on them. They stay licking the peanut butter or their feet get stuck. I am currently fighting all the mice coming in out of the cold and this really works!

the sent of the dead mouse is still on the trap. Take a few matches and burn where the food hooks on and singe the wood trap. Always worked for me

did you put a sign next to the trap to tell the mice that there is free food on the trap?

I had mice (lots of them) not long ago. The enviromental health told me they prefer dried food to anything nuts ect.....He also told me that the best way t keep them out was to put green garden mesh over anything that you could find on the exterior of the building...(ie:air vents ,washer pipes).which you could fit a pencil in,as they could get through holes that small.
I only ever saw one but my house was actually full of them...they were in the loft and everywhere. They can produce very young and in the warmth they ...Well...breed like mice. I hate cruelty to animals but they laid poison it was the only way.

When it comes to cats, my experience is that tuxedo cats are the ultimate mice killing machines.
My guess is that as a group these cats being small for their size, have had to relie on their cunning to succeed more than any other group of cats.
