im very demanding of myself when it comes to acheiving my goals in life. such as, financially secure, promptness, being of my word, and the list goes on. i have friends and aquaintences that are similar to me in that respect. but here comes the difference. i look at them and say they are so much more relaxed than i. they have a very "go with the flow" attitude that is obviously working for them. me...im always looking over my shoulder worried ive forgotten something or left something unattended.
what is this?

You're just a natural worrier, I should think. Or a perfectionist. My friend M is pretty much the same, and he always thinks everything is his responsibility to sort out, even when it's someone else's problem - it's what makes him a wonderful caring friend, but it often gives him sleepless nights and depression if he feels he hasn't done enough (even though he's done way more than anyone else would).
I do things in a slapdash and impulsive way, and THEN worry about it afterwards, and wish I'd taken more care. As long as you know you've done your best, you shouldn't need to worry. But knowing that worrying only does yourself harm doesn't help, because I don't know how to stop yourself doing it if you're that way inclined.
You sound as if you should be able to relax and be proud of your achievements, because you're a cool guy, but something inside you is preventing you doing that. I wish I could help, but I'm clueless - if you get any useful answers, let me know!

I think it may be an obssive compulsive disorder. Like how some people constantly wash their hands,or think they left an eye on the stove on or forgot to turn off the coffee pot. Most of the time people forget things sometimes. If you are constantly worried about things. It's probably a disorder. I suggest talking with a doctor or psychiatrist. I hope this may help you out. Good Luck Shyboy-i see you on here a lot,you seem like a nice guy. Later!!

you need to relax a little..take a deep breath...you are trying to hard to be a perfectionist...it will get you in the end..everyone tries to be perfect, but nobody is. its not worth putting yourself in an early grave for, stress can do a lot of damage...do as your friends do just go with the flow of life...
