If the Democrats impeached Bush, it would likely result in a backlash against them and I'm sure they hope they keep Congress and gain the presidency in the next election. The Democrats have insisted that, while they plan to investigate much of why we went to war and what has been going on with it, they have no plans to impeach the president.

Now if it turned out that Bush had truely committed some very horrible or deceitful act (such as masterminding 9/11 - which I do NOT believe he did, this is purely an example), I imagine the public would be very galvanized to have him impeached and the Democrats would probably do it. But even a large number of Republicans in Congress stated that if Bush lied about why we went to war in Iraq, even they would vote to impeach him.

Considering the relationship of Bush and Cheney, if some scenario as above were true, it would probably be a repeat of what happened to Agnew and Nixon in Watergate.

You are absolutely right. There is no point in impeaching Bush unless you impeach Cheney at the same time. So there either has to be a double impeachment, or we just have to live with Bush for two more years. He is the lamest of lame ducks now, especially with Congress controlled by the Democrats, so we should probably just muddle through.

The House Speaker and Majority Leader elects know this to be true: If they impeach the President and Vice President, they will have committed political suicide if they fail to produce the promised results, or unforeseen turns of events cause a reversal of political fortune for the US.

What would happen if they impeached, then a bunker, with 200,000 cubic feet of VX or Sarin gas were discovered? Or even documents disclosing high level meetings between terrorists and Saddam were discovered? It would be the biggest political blunder in American History. Just let the guy serve out his time, then move on. Bush can't run again, and Cheney is not in good enough physical condition to run for President, either. No biggie. Just let the guys shoot more bullets into the feet of their party's near-future.

in my state, we impeached both bush and cheney together but if you really want my opinion on the issue here it is . when you stated on your question that bush is the puppet, you pretty much answered the question yourself. puppet bush is being put in the spotlight and of course, where will the master of string would be situated, the behind the scene, the dim light. not a lot of people really understand the game of intermingled politics in our society due to the lack of paticipating and our low voting percentage. here are some questions for you. who get the most public denounciation? who is the one going with cheney's plans? who would you blame, the all in control president or a not so important cheney? i am not try to say that cheney is good but i am trying to emphazide the incapabilities of our president to decide what is right for the country. do you want that kind of president?

Any impeachment of Bush must be considered a package deal with Cheney. After all, it has been his hand up Bush's butt all these years. I swear I can see his lips move when Bush talks.

No....there is extremely greater beneficial than a twelve months left of their term. The legal wrangling might take greater beneficial than that throughout the time of basic terms for the impeachment hearings..in the event that they might truthfully discover something they may well be impeached for, that is unlikely through fact each thing they have achieved so far is interior the legal words of the regulation (even even with the undeniable fact that numerous it skirts the motive). i don't think we can withdraw from Iraq every time quickly. the government.there is extremely retaining on and to withdraw might cascade the rustic into plenty greater violence.

I chose you as best answer the other day and i couldnt email you to stand up for myself. Now i am. First of all, Bush makes a big impact in this world. Second, i do not judge him on how he rules the States, i judge him on how he controls the situation in Iraq. Donald Rumsfeld or should i say, America has been trying to shift the blame on to Britain. There is nothing wrong with me saying that i dont like Bush's ideas on how he is going to deal with Iraq. I know you dont appreciate me doing this but come on, get over it. America has a great impact on the world and there is nothing wrong with me saying that i dont like his ideas on Iraq. He managed to kill more people than Saddam Hussein ever did. I dont care who is going to be a president of the States and how they rule the States, as long as they wont involve Britain into anything, which Bush did, so thats why i have the right to say anything about him, about the way he rules some things outside of America. America and the United Kingdom does got something to do with the war in Iraq. I do see that Prime Minister Blair does some things wrong here and there in Iraq but since he has stepped down i got nothing to say about him anymore, probably about his dear friend, Bush.

Neither Bush nor Cheney did anything that is an impeachable offense. Sorry.

Incidentally, you're ignorant. Clinton didn't get impeached for the BJ - he got impeached for lying to federal investigators. That, in case you weren't aware, is extremely illegal. The subject matter is irrelevent... you do not lie to investigators, especially the feds. If you or I had done this, we'd still be behind bars.

Just be glad when he gets out of office. Can you imagine Bush or Cheney bending over each day in prison and getting exactly what they dished out to the American people?

If the House impeaches Bush, it would merely confirm the vindictiveness of the democrats. Clinton derserved to be impeached, Bush does not. (go ahead...try explaining that to a democrat.....)

In terms of Cheney becoming the prez, though, that won't happen. The trial would take place in the Senate and would require a 2/3 majortiy to remove Bush from office. Isn't happening.

--- EDIT ---

It wasn't Clinton's oval office BJs that got him impeached. Remember him getting on TV and saying "I didn't have sex with that woman"? No, you probably don't....selective memory at its finest!!!
