When she went there on her own, she would have fallen into conversation with the hairdresser and bragged a little (or a lot) about her handsome son. The hairdresser would have been fascinated and asked her to bring her gorgeous boy along. She would have been embarrassed to have turned up without you, after so much interest had been shown in you. That's all! She wants to show you off to the world! Perfectly normal and understandable!
