My primary hard drive (C drive) is about to be full. It has less than 5GB of available memory and it's only 40GB.

I've heard that you should keep a 15% or 20% of space available on you primary drive....and if you don't, it will slow down your machine.

My secondary hard drive is a 250GB and has plenty of space.

Most of my photos, documents, and video are in "My Documents" which is on my C drive. "My documents" alone contains about 13GB of data.

I was hoping I could simply cut and paste "My documents" and move it to my secondary (F) hard drive. If so, how should I do that?

Is this advisable to do? Will it cause any problems?

Please advise. I need to make some space available on my C drive.

Can I do what Chuck said if I don't have SP1 or SP2 installed on my HP computer?

According to that link Chuck, those instructions are for computers with SP1 or SP2.

Do you think I can do it as they suggest anyway?

Yes you can. I would not advise trying to do the same with your Program Files or Windows folders but the My Documents folder can be copied or burned to a disc. Always copy and paste in this situation and then delete any unwanted files from your docs folder that way you do not lose anything in the process.

You "COULD" do that, but the better answer would be just to "MOVE" your "My Documents" folder to the larger hard drive.

1) Right click on the My Documents folder on your desktop
2) Click the properties menu item
3) Click the move button
4) Select the folder you want to move your my documents folder to. (you may have to click the PLUS sign beside the disk names to expand the list). You can even create a new folder if there is not a suitable one to place your new "My documents" in.
5) Click Apply.
6) All of your current "My Documents" will be moved to the new folder and any new documents you save to "My Documents" will be here as well.

Just move the files over and delete the one from C.

yes you can. nothing will screw up the system. it would be better however to copy and paste since cutting will make a shortcut.
