You will never get rid of all the files and windows has a habit of making really big clutters in your computer. If you want good performance out of your computer, my advice would be to back up everything on your computer that you want to keep and format your hard drive. Then install the version of windows that you want to use and re-install all other programs and the files you backed up.

First, backup everything you have saved, from music to letters, etc. Then you have two options of which I am aware:
Next, go to start, accessories, and prompt.
When you hit that, you will be at what is called a dos screen.
Type c:\dir/w
At least I recall that it is in that order.
That will give you a list of all the directories
Then type the same thing all over again, with the directory you might want to delete.
Once you have located that I think if you type
c:\name of the windows directory you want to delete\deltree that will delete all of the files from that root.
This I might add the above is dos work I have not done in about ten years.
Now, probably the most easy way:
Throw in the XP disk and reboot the computer. When it boots from the CD you ought to have options including remove. Click on that and follow instructions.
One of the two methods ought to work.
Let us know how it turns out.
