Jujutsu-yes Shooto-no-At one time the cultural visa was very lax and you could go to ikebana or karate once a week and be eligible. However in the early nineties there was a crackdown and the conditions became must stricter. Nowadays you must study full time at an accredited facility to get a cultural visa. It's unlikely that a shoot dojo would be able to obtain such accreditation, since shoot fighting is obviously not traditional Japanese culture. A legit martial art like jujutsu would likely have such accreditation, at least at a hombu dojo.

I believe that you can, but you would probably look into finding a school where you can study it first and then get that school to sponsor you - it might even be as simple as having them right a letter to the right person saying that you will be coming for a cultural study at their place.. Good luck! I would love to do that too! I would find the information for the Japanese embassy/consulate in the closest city to you and contacting them to find out the rules and what you would need for that kind of visa.
