Answere for this vary from type of connection you have.

Common reason for all may be you account with Internet service Provider. If you are using some free offer, it will be for demonstration only after certain duration.
Or maybe hours alloted to you are over since so far.

If it is dialup it may be due to problem in telephone line.
If it through Wireless Router, try changing the location of your workstation.
For others varify your cabling and see to that there is not loos connectivity somewhere. Which most of the time leads in more errors for data transmission and drops the connection after a certain limit.

first turn off the modem and reboot the PC as it reboots turn the modern back on and windows will find it again.

second go to control panel and open it and click on the system icon a page will come up click on devices manager and check to see if the modern icon has a yellow patch or red if it has you have a fault and you could try reinstalling you modem software

I hope this helps

Try deleting your current connection and creating a new one before wasting your money on a new card. You might also want to call your ISP to see if they will admit that there's been network problems.
