Way to early! My neighbors already put a bunch of blinding Christmas lights up the day after Halloween! Everyone laughs at them. Don't rush it. It makes Christmas more magical if you wait. I mean it gets boring having to see Christmas lights for like 2 or 3 months.

I would like to know that too! The other night I was out for a walk, and on one side of the street one house still had Halloween lights and a lighted jack-o-lantern out, the other side of the street there were 4 of those huge WAL-MART inflatable Christmas decorations lit up. I was like huh? I think it's a little too early for X-mas stuff. Wait til after Thanksgiving, right? Isn't that generally the rule?

That depends on where you live. If you live in Arizona or Florida heck yes it's early. If you live in the Yukon Territory I can't believe you don't have them up yet.
Put them up whenever you feel like putting them up. Live life the way you want not pending on the desperate concerns of others over harmless issues like decorations.
One year I left them up all year long. I didn't care what the neighbors thought. My back and the surgery that followed were my priority concerns and the reason for my actions is none of their business.
One year we only decorated the inside of the house because the wife and I had very busy schedules.
Set your own pace and style. Let the snobs be snobs and let the critics be critics. Just enjoy life however it suits you.
If you don't enjoy decorating then don't do it. If you're decorating to please another individual then you are enjoying their appreciation. Go for it.
Have fun,
BirdDog

We always put ours up the weekend after Thanksgiving. Who wants to eat Thanksgiving dinner with Christmas decorations all around you? We usually string the outside lights up early so that we're not trying to do it in freezing temperatures, but we don't actually turn them on yet.

No, I see a lot of people have put theirs out already! Me, I'll be putting mine up the beginning of December. It is a little early for me to decorate; but to each their own!♥
