Sounds normal to me. Some children are just not large and bulky, it doesnt signify a failure to thrive.

Most parents believe their children dont eat well, when in fact they do.

Her stomach can only comfortably hold about 6-8 oz of food at a time, and it takes a few hours to digest that. So not being able to eat an entire jar of baby food in one sitting, is actually really normal for a child that age. Especially if she's just anatomically small.

Feed her when she's hungry, and avoid empty foods, like sports drinks and crackers. Focus on veggies, lean meats and fortified foods and cereals, as well as milk or formula.

Your doctor would be able to tell if there was somethign wrong with her size. Not every baby is 22 pounds by the first year.

My daughter weighs 20.8 lbs and she is 13 months old, they told me she was 50% percentile. I would think anything under 25% percentile would be cause for concern. Do you know what percentile she's in? Make sure she is still drinking a good amount of milk or formula. That's wear a lot of their weight should be gained from I was told. She should have between 16-24 ounces a day still. Maybe increase the milk and sneaking in a snack or two a day. Good Luck!
P.S. to the person who thinks 16 lbs is heavy for a year old.....pick up a book, or else you have NEVER had a kid! Don't answer things you know nothing about!

How does she act? Is she full of energy or is she listless? Are her eyes bright and clear? Is her skin good? Is her hair shiney? Is she gaining weight slowly but steadily?

If she looks good, and acts energectic, and you allow her free access to healthy food. She is fine. She is what she is meant to be. I know they say babies are supposed to double their weight at 6 months and be triple at a year, but are we all the same height at 18 years? Are we all the same bone stucture?

Most 1 year olds do not eat that much either. Like it or not human babies are not meant to be weaned at a year. I would continue breastmilk if possible, if not I would continue to give a (reasonable) amount of formula which is easier to digest and more nutritious. Limit juice and see if she eats a bit more as juice can be over filling and take away from healthier foods. Make sure she is getting enough healthy fats (like a tablespoon of olive oil or flax oil per day)

Other than that I am sure she is the perfect weight for her!

My 20 month old is 29 lbs and my 5 month old is 18 lbs. Not all babies are alike. My husband and I are both a little heavy, so that may be why our girls are a little bigger than most. If your doctor isn't concerned then i wouldn't worry.

A lot depends on body type, length/height, birth weight, birth length etc... If her Dr. is not concerned that should tell you alot.. He/she has seen measured weighed etc. your child we here on Yahoo answer have not...

If you are concerned get a second medical opinion as we on Yahoo answer do not have enough information in regards to your childs actual size to make a determination...

16lbs 10oz could be a perfectly normal weight for a 1 year old depending on the childs height/ length...

that's fine, don't worry. As long as the child is not malnutritioned and is eating one good meal a day, that's fine. It's better than being heavy, that causes so many more problems through out life - mental and physical.
Just try to make sure she has good snacks, like american cheese, those fruit puffs, bananas, raisins, whole wheat crackers, grapes, noodles, etc.
