How do I restore mobile phone volume?

Question

i have a motorola mobile, and I cannot hear anything anyone says when they phone me. i cannot even hear to ringtone when I phone someone else.

I have tried resetting it using the Settings mode - no luck.
Can you tell me how to fix this problem.

I cannot restore to factory setting because I have forgotten my pin number.

If it is a flip-phone, Motorolas have a volume control on the side. and the defult pin number is usually 1234 or 0000 (unless of course you've changed it).

like the person said above, if it is a flip phone then when you call someone press the side button up and the volume will go up.
