The account assigned to your debit card becomes your default payment method. Question is do you have the security code to access your paypal account ? Or did your bro use it on his account ? Worst case scenario is he can clean out your account with purchases from e-bay or other stores on line. Best to cancel card and get a new one !

I really don't see a problem in using your debit card instead of a credit card, because paypal offers a debit card.

For as long as there is some money in your account the deal would go through, Debit card basically means takes it directly from your account no borrowing, perhaps it might be worth it to revise your security measures in controlling who has access to what cards.

When you pay with a MasterCard or Visa the vendor can't tell if it's a credit card or a debit card. So no problem.
