You can go through menopause at anytime. It just depends on your body and hormones. My friend was 24 and was going through it.

More than likely your partner is going through perimenopause -- the time before menopause. All kinds of symptoms are possible at this time in life because of the fluctuations of hormones which often causing poor sleep, which in turn can cause the symptoms you've mentioned. Unfortunately this can last for several years - but - there are many options for help to alleviate the symptoms. My best advice is to have your partner see her gyn doctor, not just a family doctor, do a little research on perimenopause/menopause, follow the advice of her doctor to help alleviate symptoms, and exercise. Exercising is the best way to de-stress, and it helps for sleep as well. Try to accept this time of life as being completely normal, realizing it won't last forever, and one day there will be no more tampon/pad buying/use :)

To be honest...some of the symptoms sound like menopause and others don't, but the hot flushes are the real tell tale for me....phew...nightmare...that and mood swings...feel like a bloomin teenager again sometimes...if your partner is not happy with the fibromialgia diagnosis, could she not ask for a second opion or try the well woman clinic if her gp does one? I can only go on my own personal experience of menopause and some of the symptoms you list just don't tick the boxes...hope she finds the answers and help she is looking for though

Yes it is very possible. If she started her period at a young age, many people go through menopause sooner than others. There is a test that can be given to confirm if her hormone levels are out of normal level. If she was diagnosed with fibromyalgia, those symptoms are all related to fibromyalgia as well. She should speak with her doctor about having her hormone level checked. Some people have a harder time in the perimenopausal period than others do. Some people have no symptoms at all. They just stop having their periods. How nice for those few.
Best of luck to you and your friend.

fibromyalgia will give her these feelings ,so also will the perimenopause. this is what happens in the run up to the actual menopause. It's horrible I know. Do have your thyroid checked, as this can also be the cause. don't let them fob you off, insist you have a blood test for thyroid. I felt also that there was something else for 18 years. They wouldn't listen, they said I was depressed, 18 years later they found out I had thyroid problem. I was treated and it feels absolutely marvelous to feel so good. I do hope your partner will soon be feeling her old self again real soon.

Yes you can go through the menapause at 42, the symptoms you describe sound as if it is. The few years before periods stop are the worst, anxiety levels increase and you feel permanently unwell. These feelings will last a little while but after its all over, although you feel older, you have a lot more confidence and feel a lot happier with life.

42 is young for menopause but if her periods have altered in any way she should see her GP. They may try HRT. If her hormones are the cause of her problems it will really help. I had similar problems but didn't go through menopause till Much later. I would also suggest any chest pain is checked out quickly it may be something as simple as Digestion problems but better to find out!
Good luck to you both!

Absolutely it is possible!! My mom started at age 40 and is just finishing at age 49. She has many friends her age that are also going through it. As well I watch a show on good old Oprah about women as young as 35 starting. I know 35 scary!! I would also get her to get herself examined by a doctor, as some of those symptoms are not related to menopause.

YES IT IS POSSIBLE , SOME PEOPLE AS YOUNG AS 13 HAVE GONE THROUGH THE MENOPAUSE, ACCORDING TO A PROGRAM ON THE TV .BUT GOING BY WHAT YOU SAID ABOUT YOUR PARTNER HAVING BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH FIBROMYALGIA I THINK THAT IT MIGHT POSSIBLY BE THAT WHICH IS THE PROBLEM .
I KNOW FROM PERSONAL EXPERIENCE WHAT IT IS LIKE TO HAVE FIBROMYALGIA , I WAS DIAGNOSED FOUR YEARS AGO . THE PROBLEM IS THAT IT SEEMS TO AGGRAVATE ANY OTHER AILMENTS THAT YOU MIGHT HAVE,[BAD KNEES, WEAK BACK ECT.] IF YOU GET TO STRESSED OUT IT CAN CAUSE YOU TO FEEL WORSE . I HAVE HAD TO TOTALLY CHANGE MY LIFE STYLE AND EATING HABITS, YOU WILL FIND WHAT WORKS FOR YOU AND WHAT THINGS DONT.

Menopause can happen anytime really. Doctors will be able to do tests to find out for sure if it is that.
My grandmother went through the menopause at 35.

You forgot to mention the ONLY symptom that would mean menopause. Have her periods stopped for more than 1 year? If not, then she could be peri-menopausal (pre). She should go to her doctor and get her hormone levels checked.
