Press and Hold down PLAY/PAUSE & MENU Simultaneauosly-that should reset it!

put the switch to on position then on to off and hold down the play button and the centre of the click wheel button until the apple logo appears

Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
Press and hold the Menu and Select buttons until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 10 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.

try switching the 'hold' on then off...then simultaneously hold down the centre button and the play/pause button...that should reset it.

just leave it until the battery gets empty and recharge it.
