1) Try uncommon words that have less of the 'commonly -used letters' such as e s t (the letter E is the most commonly used letter in the alphabet)...
[this allows them player to waste guesses when trying for these letters];
2) ...but that are long with many different letters, so as to take many guesses to find;
3) ...and it helps if it is a word often mispelled or mispronounced, so as to get the advantage of the player's misinformation about the word.
Try:
agoraphobia - (fear of embarassing or difficult situations)
inconstitutional
delirious
stipulation
parabola
perpendicular
diadorum
schizophrenia
You may want to look up the meaning of the words you dont know, to prevent looking silly if questioned when you reveal the word. The words shouldn't be too rare though, or the player will just think of you as a bad sport. If they are words that are heard occasionally, say in media or the news, but not used commonly in everyday conversation then all the better, bc they will recognize the work once revealed, but not beforehand.
of course, these words are only good to use once, with the same opponent : )
