I love the old Star Trek and we do have some of the series recorded. We also have all the Star Trek movies that have come out thus far. Too bad they aren't making anymore. McCoy and Doughan are both dead now.

Love all the Treks, but The Original holds a very special place in my heart. If it wasn't for that one, none of the others would have come about, nor Star Wars, or most of the quality sci-fi that has been done in the last 25 years.

I'm not really that into the "old" Star Trek but I love the "new" Next Generation from the 90's

Yeah, I grew up watching the original series (TOS) as a kid. I really like the next generation (TNG), too, but Deep Star Six was REALLY not my cup of tea, and Voyager was a yawn.
Funny when you compare TOS and TNG - each is just a mirror of the american mindset at the time.
Kirk is the penultimate cowboy - "Kick alien butt every week, and make time for some sweet lovin' while doin' it.", while Picard is the perfect postmodern man - "I decry thine uncultured violence! Allow me thus to negotiate and reason forsooth! For there IS no absolute truth between our respective points of view...."

Did you happen to watch the documentary on the History Channel narrated by Shatner?
It pertained to a lot of technical advances we have due to the show.
Well............it was a bit cheesy too, but fun to watch.

Diehard Trekkie here. I watched them and memorized them even when they were embarrassingly bad. It's not even a matter of "love"-- those early Star Trek episodes are an important part of my life. There... I said it. *feels weird*
