Death Penalty and protecting our children?

Right now I am extremely upset and angry about what happened in PA to a 4 day old baby girl. Her father used a cattle prod on her twice, broke bones, fractured her face etc. It's on CNN.com. I have cried about this and I am angry and I want this "man" to be stoned to death.

Why do these things happen? I have faith and I know people have free will but why does our society TOLERATE it!!?? Why isn't there a MANDATORY DEATH PENALTY to people who murder anyone, molest or rape children? How many innocents should have to suffer before we as a society say enough is enough???

I'm sorry, I am just really upset about this. I have 3 children and this whole thing sickens me. I hope this piece of human filth gets the chair.

I think the bastards should be killed. I'd kill anyone who touched or hurt my daughter whatever the consequences.

Ignorant. First things first. One prison are overcrowding cause they filling up with people who committed petty crimes. Like drug possession. Secondly you saying kill some one cause they touched a child inappropriately or sexual intercourse with a minor. What would that do? Why should some one be punished for a sex crime like they murder the person. If a sex crime is being committed against a minor is not the same thing as murder. If a person who does that to child gets the death penalty, then a drug dealer who pushes drugs on kids should get a death penalty . If people can get off drugs then a long term program to help these people who molest can be done as well. killing some one like a animal for a crime they did is unconstitutional. How many really do molest a child and how many are made up? how do we really know if a child has been molested or if a person is being framed for it. I am sure you wouldn't agree to the death penalty if you were framed for molesting child. death penalty is being harsh and cruel to people who commit these sorts of crimes. Why not give the death penalty to drug dealers and rapist and repeat DUI offenders. at what point to what crime do we stop giving cruel punishment to people. we have constitutional rights we are humans. we should programs to help people who turn to drugs, molest and rape and steal in stead of just throwing them in jail for it. Keep the prison system for murders and retrain the people who turn to other crimes to do for the better. any one can change if given the chance to change. Show them how to be and help them improve not make them an outcast and just throw them in jail. It would cost less to develop a program to help people. But the government doesn't want to do that. did you ever wonder the prison system is over crowed here and not any wheres else?

Christians have "thou shalt not kill", but the Bible also depicts stoning to death women for adultery. You have to set legal barriers to keep some semblance of society. The death penalty is needed. There should be a federal death penalty instituted, and all states should be required to use it for capital murder cases. The nut that used the cattle prod on his baby should get the chair, I agree. But don't worry - he'll get his in prison once he's convicted. They don't tolerate baby killers well in prison, so I've heard.

The biggest problem I have with the death penalty is someone can be wrongly convicted -- and taking that ONE life (to me) is far, far worse then letting the others live. And it's rarely done anyway -- only to people who can't afford good lawyers -- and only after years of appeals.

Having said all that let me be clear on a couple of things: I have no respect for the subhuman animals you are talking about, and life sentences should be LIFE SENTENCES. No conjugal visits, no possibility of parole, no waste of taxpayer dollars trying to rehabilitate, no color TV's and gyms in prisons.

I've said it before - I'll say it again. Give them 1 chance for appeal just in case new evidence is found to show they are innocent. Give them three years in prision. Then shoot 'em. No need for taxpayers to support their 3 meals a day for the rest of their lives. Give enough time for most evidence to be shown, and then put a bullet between their eyes. Bullets are cheap. I'll donate a box.

The Hebrew word in the phrase "Thou shalt not kill" means to "slay in an unjust manner" ... That is how you can reconcile "Thou shalt not kill" with "an eye for an eye"... But as for this guy, who, there is no doubt that he is guilty, should be held accountable for his atrocities towards an defenseless innocent... This goes for all who exploit and injure children, Andrea Yates, Susan Smith, the lady from Plano, Texas... The list seems endless...

This being... cause he has lost any morsel of humanity in my mind.. should be took to city hall and let all parents stone him.. What is wrong with people these days. THIS IS Horrendous. Un-forgivable. The thought of doing that to someone that young is disgusting. Brings tears to my eyes thinking about it. Any parent should feel the same. This thing should forgo trial and go straight to punishment. and if your (USA) courts even let him off one iota citizens should take it in there hands and drag him out to be PUBLICLY STONED.

Believe me, I am just as sickened about stories like that as you or anyone else.

But the government doesn't have the right to murder anyone, even if they themselves are murderers. That man deserves life in prison, but murder is murder, even if the government perpetrates it. "An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind."
