I took a pregnancy test yesterday. It said negative within three to five minutes and I tossed it. When getting the garbage ready to take out, it fell out and I noticed there was a faint positive line in it. Does that mean a positive or is it a negative?

I have read that you arent sopposed to read it after that long, I would just try to take another test, when I got my positive result, it took less time than the package said and there was no mistaking it. If it helps you at all I took the first response test.

Same thing happened to me a few years ago. I took a test, it was a negative result. Hours later there was a faint line there. I took another with a negative result and got my period.

I think when a test has been discarded, all the colours run perhaps making the line look prominent.

If i were you i would take another one to be on the safe side as perhaps, it could of been a faulty test or a result could have been delayed. At least you will know for sure.

All the best X

That happened to me one time and I almost had a stroke! I wasn't pregnant but I have read on the net that a negative test can turn positive an hour, a day or even days after you took the test! Depends on how much pregnancy hormone you have in your blood at the time you took the test. Take another asap and hopefully that will put you at ease.

The test is negative, after more than ten mins it is no longer accurate due to it being moved around not lieing flat, and also the liquid has been in there too long. I am possitive this is how it works, however if you would like to know a 100% because at home tests are not the best then I would see your doctor, or wait a week and see if you start. Hope this helps!

Retake the test. Any result after the time period indicated by the test should be considered inaccurate or as evap lines. Read www.peeonastick.com for more and very accurate information.

False positive results are exceedingly rare, false negatives are extremely common.

I know that a positive result can show for like 3 days, I'd take another test just to be sure.

No it is negative.I had the exact same thing happen to me and got really excited.I went and bought a digital test the next and I was not pregnant.I can't remember the name if the line-but when urine sits on it for too long it can develop that line-thats why you are supposed to only read the results in the time said on the box.

Pregnancy tests have instructions to NOT read the test after 10 minutes. thats because after that certain period of time the results are no valid. Most likely you saw the evaportation line.

After 10 minutes the results are invalid. You can have a positive result if it sat overnight it is not a true positive though.
