How can I delete all files on an SD card...some wont go!?

I am trying to clear an SD card...It had files for my old dell axim x5 pda on...I have deleted the tomtom prorams but one file still persists and will not be deleted....I also created a folder to view movies in windows media player...the folder itself will not delete even though I am given the option...The media player files inside the folder wont even give me the option of deletion....I want the whole SD card wiped and empty...HELP!

Have you Tried Completely Re-Formatting the card whilst in a Card Reader(Attached to a Computer)
That Normally works!
