How would you feel if your neighbor woke you up at 4:00am in a similar manner? Common sense should prevail in this situation. A little consideration for your neighbors is in order. By the way, many municipalities have noise ordinances that might make it illegal to operate a snow blower at that hour of the morning. Check with your local city hall.
Good luck with your snow removal this winter.

If it's just your driveway waiting is ok. I do mine and 3 of my elderly neighbors and they all need to be done before I head to work. In MN, we can get some BIG snowfalls overnight too. I usually start at 4:45 or so and am done by 6:00 or 6:30--even on heavy snowfall days. Unless you have a big driveway, or a lot of them to do, I'd wait until around 5:00. Most people understand if it's a big snowfall event that you have to get the snow moved and get going with the day, but 4:00 might be a tad early.

If you need to be at work and really NEED to start that early, then go ahead. Otherwise wait til 6:30 or 7:00.

I'd say you should check your city's by-laws. 4:00 is way too early and you could end up with a fine. Most city's have a noise by-law that bans noise before 7:00am and after 11:00pm.

Well you should wait till later if it isn't an emergency situation. That is just rude to do that early, it is always good to wait till 10 am for most things when possible. How would you feel if the shoe was on the other foot?
