"The Blair Witch Project" was just a hugely successful version of the kind of fake documentary film students have made since the 1960's. These guys just got it right enough it appealed to a general audience.

Are you serious? Seriously, NO it is not real. It was a great idea based slightly on a real myth. Yes it has a director because it was directed, yes it has actors because they were acting. People did not die or disappear from the world, they just got lots of money and even more money when the movie companies bought the idea...then disappeared from the world.

No, it was fake. But I know what you mean! I thought it was real the first time I saw it. I think there were a lot of rumors going around at the time that it was real, so maybe that had something to do with it. I don't know, but I believe they got their inspiration from the Bell Witch of Tennessee... (Who apparently did exist... or not, you can never tell with these things!)

No, it was all staged...a movie. The actress that played the lead gave interviews on talk shows not long after this movie came out and I remember watching her talk about it.
