My 21st birthday is coming up on December 2nd, and my friends want to take me out. How can I tell them politely that I am not interested in drinking or getting drunk? Any suggestions on anything else we could do to celebrate?

My suggestion is , it is your 21st birthday, ask yourself what you would really like to do. If you are not sure, you may want to check the local paper for events, maybe there is some sporting activity that you would like, or maybe it would be nice to have your friends over your home, they can cook you dinner and hang out.

Regarding the drinking, I have been in that situation, there is peer pressure and sometimes when you say no, there is not a favorable reaction but you should always take care of yourself. Be true to yourself always. And, have a great birthday... enjoy your youth.. the future is yours.

i myself would me 21 in a couple of months, so i could only recommend to you what i will do ,first be tankful to God,second get a gripof yourself, am not saying you should not have fun and i think ou should stick to plan and not get drunk with your friends , perharps now would be a good time to get your life on the run, this may sound selfish, it wont hurt trying something different ever tried taking yourself to a treat try it its heavenly its not everyday you have a 21st birthday but you could see your friends anyday. HAPPY BUFF DAY IN ADVANCE bye

Try going paintballing or skydiving or doing something you've never done before instead of going to get drunk. Gather all your best friends together and get matching 21st birthday tattoos. Get something pierced. Have a movie marathon. Go to an indoor rock climbing place. Go take a dance lesson in a type of dance you've never done before (salsa, swing, tango, belly dance, tap, etc.). You're turning 21, it doesn't have to be about alcohol but you should do something new.

You are turning 21 years old, there are many things you can do. There is the theater, movies, skating. museums, zoo, camping out or camping in with a few friends. You are young, enjoy your life as alcohol can take over a person life in a second.

Now I am a lot older, maybe I am the one who should get drunk. (smile) Happy Birthday and have fun.

I had a rollerdisco on my 21st bday. I hired the place and invited lots of friends and we were able to skate around with my own music blasting away. I specifically wanted to have fun without drinking alcohol and I think my idea turned out really well.

Go to the theater. Go to Paris. Plan a day at the spa/beauty salon. Have a fancy dinner then go to a play. Avoid the bars and clubs. If they insist on having a night of booze, you don't need to be so polite, just be firm. Happy birthday.

You could just celebrate at home, watching some of your favorite movies, or go someplace fun. Its honestly up to you, i mean it is your birthday, and just because you're turning 21 doesnt mean you have to go out and get wasted. I mean 21 is something you want to remember, not wake up with a massive headache from it.

Girl what the hell is the matter with you....you have to get drunk for your 21st and you MUST throw up....no shame in it. You will regret not getting drunk in your later life....you have no funny drunk stories to look back on when you're older and live a boring life! Trust me go get drunk!!!!!

Is there a fondue restaurant in your town, like The Melting Pot? That is always fun. What about dinner, then karaoke?
If they don't get it, then tell them you have plans to do something special with your family. Or go out with them, and let them drink. If they are too pushy, just be straight forward with them and tell them you are perfectly happy without adding alcohol.

And that's why you made it this far. Good for you!! Wow, there are all sorts of neat things to do for your 21st without 'toasting'! What do you like? Take a weekend mini vacation! Treat yourself to something special!! Congratualtions and most importantly, Happy Birthday!!!
