Well that Red Sox rotation really trails off
Schilling, Beckett, Papelbon, Matsuzaka and... Wakefield
As a Sox fan, i question the amount of money, but love the rotation for a few years.
Beckett, Papelbon, Matsuzaka with a lot of young guys, Lester, Bard,
It has not been officially annouced, the bid has not been officially accepted, and Matsuzaka has not signed a contract - three things to remember..

this idea that the Sox bid that quantity to dam the yankees is without difficulty the dumbest idea I have heard in a lengthy time period, and friends, it really is putting forward someting. they favor this guy, they scouted him for a three hundred and sixty 5 days, they favor his arm, they favor his call to augment their employer in Asia. They bid an quantity that would want to ensure they win. look how stupid the yankees look, they could't outbid the purple Sox? The yankees have not something yet funds. the nature of blind bidding potential the winner will overbid. The purple Sox will actual make up the bid funds from gross sales out of japan in the journey that they signal Matsuzaka, if not, they get their bid funds decrease back - no lose. Matsuzaka isn't elligable for FA until eventually 2008, so if he needs to play contained in the majors he has to signal for the Sox, or go by this procedure again. He has pronounced the Yankees, even perhaps needs to play for them, yet that is an grant of a MLB settlement, the purely one he receives for a lengthy time period, might want to he extremely turn it down? Matsuzaka can help you the purple Sox, hes yet another high quality arm in an company it really is stockpilling extremely some. The purple Sox may have a severe high quality rotation even without Matsuzaka next three hundred and sixty 5 days, with him they're genuine contenders.

If its true and the Red sox got the rights to talk to him, i think the team that is going to be the most screwed is actually the Mets.. because theres no way in HELL the Yankees are coming out of this without a big pitcher, so Barry Zito becomes target A number 1 for the Yankees, and the Mets wont get him. lol

If his Japanese team accepts the bid, the Sox will have 30 days to finalize a deal. I saw him embarass people in the WBC, and just thinking about their possible rotation makes me giddy!
Schilling
Beckett
Paplebon
Matsuzaka
Wakefield
Experience, depth, and everything from an old knuckleballer to a young flamethrower. Now all they need is a solid closer, a SS with a bat, and to sign Vernon Wells to play RF, and they're looking good for '07.

That's a lot of money just to have the right to deal with him. The Deal could wind up in the 90-120 million range. Red Sux nation will be in Yankee territory as far as total salary.
ARE THE RED SOX BUYING A CHAMPIONSHIP???????

It is a risk to bring any pitcher over from Japan. In Japan the pitchers only pitch once a week. To go into a four man rotation could wear on him after a few months. But he is worth the gamble. Although it is a risk. I hear he throws five different pitches.

It wouldn't be surprising since a lot of their moves are directly influenced by the Yankees, and they certainly don't want the Yankees to land him. Whoever ultimately wins better hope for a contract longer than three years with that kind of payment just to talk to him.
