It depends on what your beliefs are. Holland opens their gifts on Christmas Eve and Canadians, Americans generally open their's on Christmas Day. My mother prefers Christmas Eve because it is hard for her to wait until Christmas Day. My gift opening often depends on whom is giving me the gift. Some of my gifts are not opened until several weeks after the holidays as I get together with friends that where busy through the holiday season with their families. Some gifts get open the day I recieve them because the giver wants to see the look on my face as I am recieving. Between my daughter and I we usually do it on Christmas day because of the grandchildren. Any time that is right for you, is the time to open them ;-)

It all depends on your family's tradition. For my family there are no presents at all under the tree until we wake up Christmas morning. When we wake up we can open our stocking that "Santa" leaves on the foot of our bed. Then at a reasonable time we can go into the living room to see the tree and all the gifts. When everyone is up and mom is home from work (she is a nurse) then we can open them. This year, it will be later in the day. Since they will have to wait for me to come home, because I don't really live there any more. Also my sister and mom both are working so they have to come home from the hospital.

Some people open gifts Christmas Eve night and some like to get up on Christmas and open them. Some families open one present Christmas Eve night and the rest on Christmas morning.
It's really based on your traditions.

With my family, we open the gifts on Christmas Eve. But, I recently got married and his family opens their gifts on Christmas Day. So, with the combined families, we will get the best of both worlds!

Whenver you feel like it I suppose. In our family we usually take the time on Christmas morning to sit and open things one by one, really appreciating the time and thought that goes into each gift. It takes us all morning but its great family time and we all have coffee together while we're at it! I've heard of some families that open just one gift on the eve of, sort of something to keep you waiting until the next morning.

Whatever your tradition is. We get to open one gift Christmas Eve, but it has to be from our parents. Then we open the rest of our parent's gifts and out-of-town relatives Christmas morning. Since we go up to my cousin's house later in the morning, we open those gifts (from that side of the family) that day.

My favourite time is to unwrap each gift after the clock strikes 12 after Christmas eve.
As I unwrap the gift, sometimes I am very touched when a friend has chose something that I really love.
Christmas season reminds me of the beauty of friendship.
note: i am a non-christian and do not celebrate christmas on a religion basis.
