While I was in college, I've unfortunately never had the time nor opportunity to apply for an internship. Now that I've graduated and I do have the time to take them on, I'm wondering if it is even remotely possible to still apply for an internship despite the fact I won't be getting any credit for it since I'm not longer a student. I understand there is no pay involved, I am primarily in this for the experience, seeing as how many professional settings require those with experience.

In a nutshell, is it still possible to work an internship at this point?

Yes, it is most definitely is possible to work for an internship at this point. I did two internships AFTER college. In college, I was busy taking summer school and working on campus. When I graduated, I realized I forgot to do relevant work experience. So, I had to swallow my pride and work in two unpaid internships. Just be sure when you do this..it should be in your field of interest..otherwise it is worthless. In some internships, you may get minimal pay or stipend. It is possible..so Good luck!

Yes. If an employer ask "why now", tell them just what you told us!
