this was happening to me too, so i told my brother to invite me trough my yahoo instead of hot mail.

You need gmail accout to join orkut so get invite from your friends of gmail and same user name and same password of gmail use in orkut to join

I cannt understand what's the problem.If U r using slow dial up connection then it sometimes cannt find the server & give errornous
report.U may try it frm Gmail.
