I've been on it for about 8 years. Out of all the meds I've tried, it's the one thing I have stayed on all this time (in combination with other meds to control my bipolar). I take 300 mg of Wellbutrin XL daily. In the beginning it was extremely effective. It is no longer as effective as it first was, but it still makes a difference in the frequency and severity of my depressive episodes. The only side effects I have had from it are ...1) loss of appetite when I very first started it and 2) hot flashes when I was on the highest dose of 450 mg.

I took it for about 6 months to a year. I'm not sure what the dosage was. It always made me feel sick, I found that I was depressed when I was taking even though I wasn't depressed before ( I was put on it for a reason other than depression ). Also a short while after I stopped taking it because of how sick it made me I started having these uncontrollable tics. Like I'm just going about my normal everyday life and all of a sudden I twitch or jerk for no apparant reason. I don't know if there is a connection between the two or not. I know I would never take it again though.

Hi, I was taking Wellbutrin 150mg for about six months. It was prescribed for me to help with the cravings of cigarette smoking. It did help. I was able to quit. I did not feel anything when I took it and I had no side effects. I don't know how it works, but the cravings were not near as bad as they were when I tried to quit previously.

shrink prescribed it. was on it for less than a month, made me manic- meaning i got hyper. no other significant side effects. not everyone will react the same way. it's important that your psychiatrist assesses whether it's the right medication for you. for me it didn't work. prozac did. everybody's different. whatever you do, make sure that whoever is prescribing you the meds is knowledgeable. GPs don't usually have much experience with mental illness, as for a referral.

I tried it for a little while but got off of it because it made me quite ill. I was fine on the initial dosage (not sure what it was) but when my doctor ramped it up after the first week, that's when I got sick to my stomach. So I got off of that and got on effexor.
