I think it should be made illegal. It is so wrong to kill innocent babies.
But what do you think?

Even of a woman is raped, it is STILL wrong. No matter what. Adoption the loving option.

I TOTALLY AGREE with you!!!
in your additional details, again, I ABSOLUTELY AGREE with you!
tnmack is right. it's abhorrently evil to kill an innocent human being. i saw a documentary how it's done, it makes me wonder how evil can people be due to selfish reasons. it is HORRIBLE. and only evil people can allow it or condone it.

This is not a simple black and white issue.
There are pros and cons to weigh. Even if the child is a result of rape or incest, there is always the choice of adoption. But then, if the pregnancy is not the woman's fault, can/should she be forced to carry the child?
However, what if you find out the baby will be born with a terminal illness and won't live for very long? Maybe something that was passed from mother to child. I'm not saying it would be right or wrong, just that it's something you have to think about.
And can we really take someone's choice away to decide what to do with their body? Aren't our bodies the only things we truly own? Just because one person thinks abortion is wrong, someone else may not. This issue is different in every culture.
There is no clear answer and unless we are personally faced with the dilemma, we don't really have any reference to draw on. In the end, my belief is to do what is best for all the people involved.

I think that every woman is different.
I think that every situation is different.
I think that no one can decide for all women what is right when it comes to this issue. No single decision is right for every situation, no matter what the issue is.
I think that abortion should NOT be used as birth control (instead of condoms, the pill, etc.)
I think every woman has the right to make this decision for themselves, without guilt and repercussions. Without the government having anything to say about what happens inside a woman's body.
Consider this: If every aborted baby was brought to term and adopted, we would have overrun the planet by now. There is just not enough resourses available to support all those people.
Some of those babies would be born to abusive, addicted, mentally disabled, or crazy people. People who might not put them up for adoption, and the kid would be in horrible conditions.

" Life is present at the moment of conception."
Yes, I will have to say that it SHOULD be illegal, IF it is NOT done for MEDICAL reasons, ( mother or baby will not survive).
I really find it amusing to hear people say, "it's my body, my choice." I didn't realize it was THEIR body they were ripping out of them and throwing into the trash. What a disregard for human life that is! But they can just go ahead and use murder as a form of birth control...go ahead!!! Even though THEY were the ones who had made the "CHOICE" to spread their legs KNOWING what consequences could be, but aren't RESPONSIBLE enough to take responsibility. But actually thought they were responsible enough to have unprotected sex.
And contrary to the popular argument that when most abortion are performed it is not murder becuase the fetus isn't considered to be "alive", I think they should do a little research. At approx 21 days the heart beat is present. Funny, a heart beat is definately a profound sign of life, and most abortions are performed AFTER this. And many are done after 12 weeks when the fetus is FULLY capable of feeling PAIN.
Oh, and as for the person who asked "who remember's being in the womb?" well who remembers being an infant. So does this mean that we can kill you off until you are capable of REMEMBERING things...OMG!!! People out there cannot justify their arguments in being pro-abortion. So get a life, and let the innocent children live....We are NOT god...it is not OUR choice who lives and who doesn't. It is NOT our choice in who is BORN and who isn't. Abortion should be illegal unless performed for SPECIAL circumstances....

I think abortion should be legal. I don't think they're really "babies". They're just a few cells. If you terminate a pregnancy the fetus isn't going to miss it's life. I do believe abortions shouldn't be done after a certain point in the pregnancy. If you don't like abortions, that's just fine. No one says you have to get one. Don't eliminate that option for the many women who choose to have them. I don't think adoption is always the best answer, because the mother still has to go through the gestation and birthing process. The world is already overpopulated.

This is a Very Touchy Topic.....I think ppl's answers are based on their personal - moral - & ethical beliefs, as well as religious convictions. As a Mom myself I wouldn't chose abortion in 99% of situations however there are a few situations where i do believe we have the right to have the option. Ex: If my daughter was raped or suffered an incestuous attack - she shouldn't be forced to carry & have a child from those circumstances. The gov't doesn't have the right to step into my home & tell me that my daughter must give birth to a child conceived in such manners. This isn't a legal issue, it is a moral, ethical issue & we can't regulate ppl's morality. It must start at home & come from within. (i know i'm gonna get slammed for this opinion, but i stand by it!)

My birth mother was 15 years old when she got pregnant with me and almost got an abortion twice. She came to the decision to keep me, have me and give me up for adoption. If she decided to have the abortion, I would not be here today. I finally met her when I turned 18 and I thank her everyday for her decisions!!!

Abortion is a result of a greater foundational problem which is promiscuity before marriage. I think that people should only have relations with who they are married to and not before marriage. This has become a very material world, and many fall prey to accepting its standards. For the greater majority, wealth fame and good looks are respected, all three of which are outer not inner values, and often inner values are compromised for outer. Abortion, I don’t believe in for myself, but I also have compassion for those who have made the unfortuneate choice of doing so, the problem is multi-factorial in every instance.

you are thinking only of the people that get pregnant out of stupidity... you are not thinking about the women that are raped (not all rapes get documented), incest victims, the mother's health (some pregnancies can put a mother's life at risk), all the newborn babies that get put in dumpsters (personally I would rather a baby be aborted at 12 weeks than a baby be put in a dumpster).. there are so many reasons that abortion needs to stay legal... what people need to do is educate women about their options more.. instead of having billboards that say heartbeat at 10 weeks, have a billboard about adoption.. instead of having commercials that show an ultrasound of a fetus.. have commericals about adoption... the abortion clinics should have a counselor talk to the woman or girl before an abortion to show her the options- to prevent abortions and promote adoptions.. is the best way to go... making it illegal is only going to cause the problems it did when it was illegal before- there are reasons it is legal :)
I just saw your edit.. .. seriously.. you expect a woman who is viousiously raped to carry around the man's child as well as constatantly relive that moment over and over for 9 months.. what is that going to do to that woman's mental state.. sure.. have a rapist baby and live in a mental institution the rest of your life.. you do have to draw the line somewhere. I would NEVER wish that on any woman... it could get so bad she could kill herself.. then there goes her and the baby... 2 lives.. that's a much better option also religion holds no place on the laws of the US.. seperation of Church and State

dear I love every one..but rape incest..come on ..
plus there are tens of thousand of un-adopted children in this country who cry themselves to sleep each and every night as it is now..
I do believe it should be made illegal, but only under the extreme cases should it be OK to get one.
no one should carry their father's or brothers' or any family members baby after being raped that will create a life long trauma for every one....and who know what type of danger this can put on society...
but it should be made illegal and as the new people get into power write them letter and they WILL do it..
good luck
smile
and
God Bless

Depends on the situation and whether the "baby" is viable or not. An 8 week old fetus is not yet a human because it cannot survive on its own outside of the mother.
Fortunately, I've never been faced with having to make a choice, but in some instances it would be the most humane thing to do. The times when one knows the child will be stillborn, born with horrible deformities, etc.
That's a rough issue and one that people will never fully agree upon.
