Hopefully before I get attacked I can say I was just saying hi to my friend Jack sitting there across the aisle.Hopefully he will stand up to verify this if he's truly a friend.

:D That was good...I guess I would say, "My friend named Jack" *while pointing at him* as quickly as I could before being pounced on.

Instead of saying "Hi" I would use the word "Hey".
