Many toddlers start walking between the ages of 10-15 months. The average age is 12 months, but some children are as late as 18 months. Walking is usually not considered delayed until 18 months. It also depends on if your child has any other general delays... I would not expect a child with cerebral palsy (for example) to walk at the same time as a typically developing child. If your child is cruising along furniture (holding onto the edge of furniture while walking along it), then they are on the right path. Just practice with your child to develop the coordination and muscle control it takes to walk alone by having your child walk between you and another person.

There is no certain age for walking. My son was RUNNING at 9 months. His sister, however, didn't walk until 22 months. My granddaughter is 15 months and just started walking.

Every child goes through the major (and minor) milestones when they are ready ... my eldest son walked at 9 months, which I was shocked by! My youngest, who just turned 9 months today, is content to just crawl around. I've known babies who have walked later, as well ... I wouldn't be too concerned, unless he is truly not progressing and reaching other milestones.

He's a little late compared to others, but not all children are the same. I bought the hightop leather shoes for my daughter when she was almost one. As soon as I put them on her she stood up and walked. It was like they gave her the extra support to feel safer and walked. Those may help your son. Good Luck

13 mos.is OK to not be walking yet. I wouldn't worry..maybe if he was 18 months, that would be somewhat unusual.

Well, it really doesn't matter. He'll be just fine.
My mother told me I didn't even start walking until 18months. Very late, but I turned out just fine.
Don't be worried. :)
