Pls do not worry. I was in the same condition, with pre-eclampsia, High BP and spilling protien in the urine.I was hospitalised at 32 weeks of pregnancy and under constant observation. My son was born at 34 weeks. He is a happy 4 yr old today. So, your niece is in much better situation and will hopefully have a very healthy baby. So goodluck to your niece and her family.

high bp and high protein along with edema(excess fluid causing swelling) are symptoms of preeclampsia, this is a very serious condition in pregancy for mother and baby and certainly the best thing to do is induce early if symtoms don't die down, the doctors will be monertoring closing and will get baby out if need be

I would suggest to visit a Nutritional therapist as the high blood pressure is mainly fro her diet..ask her to stop with the salt and the saturated fat..also she have to increase the intake of vegetables and fruits..also to stop with all refined foods such as white bread cakes, bagel etc.
Healthy eating will change everything but she need consultation ..see below for more info

It might be due to pre-eclampsia. A condition which can turn in eclampsia(seizure). Eclampsia is very harmful condition to both mother and fetus. Induction of labor is only treatment to prevent eclampsia.
