My son is 13 mos. old and was a great baby about sleeping through the night, but now for some reason he is waking up everynight and wanting to play. I can not leave him inhis bed for his bed is in our bedroom and my husband needs to get sleep. what could be wrong with him. ??

I would guess that he is getting too much sleep during the day, try cutting back on his naps. Also make sure he eats enough to last through the night. It could also be separation anxiety, it which case, hopefully it won't last too long. (but i doubt it since you share a room) My son is 12 mos, and usually sleeps through the night, but he does go through phases of waking up in the night. First, I do not let him nap past 4pm, and I don't let his daytime naps run longer than a total of 4 hours. Since it is hard to get all the food in them during the time they are up, I usually put him to bed at 8pm after a bottle, and then I give him another bottle at 11pm.

As we get older we need less sleep. A later bedtime should help. If not, a shorter nap during the also should do it. A babe's routine does not have to follow normal day-night patterns. When my kids were small, their sleep/awake schedule was the same as mine (I was the breadwinner); I worked afternoon shifts, so they would be up till after I got home & awaken in late morning when I did.

Nothing is wrong with him, he has just learned a new trick to get mom to pick him up. Why at 13 months does he not have his own room? If at all possible, move him out of your room today. He will just wake up and talk to himself for awhile and then go back to sleep.

Babies have to be taught. The person who said he may be getting too much day sleep is correct. It will be difficult at first, but keep him awake more towadr the afternoon until his sleep time is adjusted to your satisfaction. Don't forget to teach him the word stop.

Do not play with him. If need be set up a playpen in another room for her to sleep in. Don't even talk to him when he wakes up. If he needs a bottle give him one, but do not talk or play.

it could be what he had for dinner, might have too much sugar or something. what i think always works is a nice warm bath and letting him know its already bedtime.
