I have found a small lump on the right hand side of my jaw line. It is under the skin so it cannot be seen and it came on very suddenly. I have had it before a couple of years ago but it went away. It is not fixed to anything and I can move it about a little. It does hurt and doesn't seem to be getting any bigger but it also is not going away.

It is only on my right hand side and is quite hard (i cannot squeeze it). I have been suffered from a cold recently and my job is very stressful. Could these be the reasons for it and what is it?
Should I be worried?
Any advise before I go to a doc would be great.
Thanks

This could well be related to your cold AND stress. Lymph nodes in this area tend to swell when your body is trying to defend itself from alien bacteria.

As you have had this before without complication and as it hurts it unlikely to be malignant. However, I would suggest a visit to your doc to clarify this (I am not a medic). As you are stressed, and stress hormones lower the immune system a check would be very wise to ensure that all is ok,and to prevent any recurrance.

Good luck!

I have those too, you should have one on both sides. It's glands of some sort. Sometimes they hurt when you have a cold, I think they're linked to sinuses. You shouldn't be worried... but if you go to a doctor that can ease your concerns more than anyone on Answers can. Sometimes they get very swollen and painful when you're sick, and you said you just suffered a cold... so that's probably it. I'm not sure if the doctor can do anything to make the swelling go down, but even if he can't, at least you'll know for sure that you're ok. I think you're fine though, because I can feel both of mine right now.

I've had a few strange lumps like this, but they all disappeared on their own. Seeing the doc would have been a good idea, and as soon as possible - no point in adding any more stress.

Hi when your run down and stressed you sometimes get cysts, these do come and go all depending how bad your stressed out. These do go on there own but sometimes they have to be larnced by your gp,this involves gently making a small cut and larncing all the pus out.Theres not alot you can do about these either.Go see your gp if it hasent gone in a few days.Good Luck

Could be a really clogged pore or gland, or it could be a cyst. Go to the doctor about it.

My cousin had a small hard boil on his chin that came from bacteria that was living on the leather case on his phone.

It's probably a swollen gland. Don't worry. If you still have it in a month call your doctor.
